“I had a hard time initially being home with my newborn. The first adjustment from being a woman to a mom is immense. One night I was rocking my son to sleep, frustrated at being held down. Confined to this space and moment. I was headed to a dark place. Then, something about the way he snuggled me that night. Was it a perfectly timed breathy sigh? Maybe. But I started to realize I was the lucky one. These are THE MOMENTS. And I decided to start being grateful for the time we had together. Each night as I rocked him to sleep, I reminded myself to think of a special moment he and I had together that I wouldn’t have had if I wasn’t home. It was hard at first. At first, my own angst at our decision was heavy to sift through. However, night after night, in that rocking chair, we healed me. And I started living a grateful life.” -Kerri
